Demographic and Socio-economic data profile

Climatic zone, Agro-ecological region and Village of all the sampled homegardens and land extent of the homegardens in four districts are given in the “demographic information” file. Sampled homegardens were consisted in all three climatic zones and 14 agro-ecological regions.

Socio-economic data file included information on occupation and gender of the household head, dependency ratio of the household, income and expenditure. Dependency ratio was calculated by dividing number of independent members in the family from the number of dependent members in the family. Annual income and expenditure of the homegarden were derived by aggregating the income and expenditure applied on cereals, pulses, vegetables, leafy vegetables, yam, coconut, fruit, condiments, medicinal plants, firewood, timber, meat, egg, milk, animal and manure in the homegarden
